SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Sophomore pitcher Jackie Rogers (Alta Loma, Calif./Etiwanda) struck out six and had three hits of her own to lead fourth-seeded Dowling to a 9-0 win over No. 5 seed Bryant in the opening game of the NCAA Division II Softball Northeast Regional. The Golden Lions (33-18) dealt Northeast-10 Conference champion Bryant (29-16) its first run-rule loss of the season.

NYCAC Champion Dowling moves onto a rematch of its conference title game against No. 1 seed C.W. Post (37-11) at 2:30 p.m. today. Bryant will meet the loser of game four at 9:30 a.m. Friday.

After plating an unearned run in the second, Dowling scored five runs on five hits in the third. Freshman Taras Wallace (Barnegat, N.J./Southern Regional) doubled in two runs and Rogers doubled her home to key the big inning.

The Golden Lions pounded out ten hits. The top eight of the Dowling lineup accounted for at least one hit each.

All Northeast Regional games will be played at Le Moyne College's Thomas J. Niland Athletic Complex. Tickets will be sold at the gate. Adult admission is $5, $3 for students and senior citizens. No complimentary passes will be issued.
