Indiana (Pa.) 4, Kutztown 3

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa.---A walk-off home run by pitcher Jodie Swavely gave the Indiana (Pa.) Indians a 4-3 win over the Kutztown Golden Bears in the first game of the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Tournament on Thursday afternoon.

Kutztown (27-23) tied the game 3-3 in the top of the seventh inning, before Swavely ended the contest. On the mound, she pitched seven innings, allowing three runs on five hits with two strikeouts. She raised her record to 17-4 on the season.

Down 3-2 in the top of the seventh, Kutztowns Dani Spalik hit an RBI single down the left field line to score Sam Flowers to tie the game.

IUP (23-15) took a 1-0 lead in the second inning, off an RBI single to left field by Kerri Hiles which scored Hilary Tutrani.

Kutztown came back in the top of the third for a 2-1 lead. With runners on second and third, Tarin Horonzy hit a squeeze play bunt which scored Adriane Willmer from third to put the Golden Bears on the board. A sacrifice fly from Lindsey Bennett sent Jackie Messina across the plate to give Kutztown the lead.

The Indians reassumed the lead, 3-2, on a two-RBI double by Melissa Klingensmith in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Rachel Weidensaul (9-9) picked up the loss for Kutztown.

IUP moves on to play Shippensburg at 2:00 p.m., while Kutztown will face an opponent to be determined at 10:00 a.m. tomorrow.
