SHIPPENSBURG, Pa.---Shona Guevara pitched a four hit shutout to lead the Lock Haven Lady Eagles to an 8-0 victory over the Kutztown Golden Bears in game five of the NCAA Division II Mid-Atlantic Region Tournament.

Guevara had four strikeouts in the game, and goes to 19-5 with the win.

Lock Haven took a 2-0 lead in the first inning. Courtney Hughes hit an RBI double to send home Lynn Spezio to give the Lady Eagles the lead. Heather Johnsons single, plus an error by the Kutztown left fielder, allowed Hughes to score.

In the second inning, the Lady Eagles had four more runs cross the plate, highlighted by a bases-loaded double by Spezio that drove in three runs. Stephanie Hallowell also had an RBI single in the inning to put the Lock Haven advantage at 6-0.

Lock Haven added insurance runs in the fifth and sixth innings for an 8-0 score. Hughes hit a home run over the left field fence in the fifth, while Colleen Welsh hit an RBI single in the

With two stolen bases in the game, Spezio broke the Lock Haven school record for career stolen bases. She currently has 81. She led Lock Haven, going 3-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored. Hughes went 2-for-2 with two RBIs and two runs.

For Kutztown, Lindsey Bennett went 2-for-2 to lead the Golden Bears. Adriane Willmer and Erin Livingston each had a hit.

On the mound, Cheryl Griffith went one inning and gave up six runs. She gets the loss to go to 8-7 for the year. Rachel Weidensaul went five innings in relief. She had three strikeouts.

With the win, Lock Haven (34-9) moves on to play the winner of Elizabeth City State and Indiana (Pa.). Kutztown will end its season at 27-24.
