Moravian 6, Ferrum 3

Salisbury, MD - After trailing by one run, Moravian exploded for five runs in the sixth inning to defeat Ferrum, 6-3, in the second day of the NCAA Division III Atlantic Region Softball Championship Tournament at Salisburys Sea Gull Field Saturday.

Junior All-American Megan Hennessy (28-5) went the distance, to earn her first win of the tournament. They Greyhound ace struck out seven batters and allowed eight hits in the contest.

Moravian knotted the score at two, with Hennessys (2-for-3, RBI) two-out single down the left field line. After scoring on a Ferrum infield error, freshman Beth Paly (2-for-4) ripped a single to left to plate Hennessy and seniors Heather Bortz (1-for-2) and Leah Holmes.

Ferrum senior Wendy Hunt, junior Jenny Perdue, and freshman Mary Greenway had two hits a piece with Perdue blasting her first HR of the year and Greenway picking up an RBI. Sophomore hurler Kim Cox received the loss for the Panthers despite allowing just two earned runs.
