WAYNE, NJ (May 14) - Freshman pinch-runner Julie Grochowski (Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) scored on an errant throw home following a squeeze bunt attempt by senior shortstop Celeste Chinappi (Bellmawr, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) as third-seeded Rutgers-Camden (35-7-1) advanced to the NCAA Division III Softball East Regional title game with a 2-1 victory over fourth-seeded Ursinus (37-10), which was eliminated with the loss.

Junior right-hander Michelle Schlichtig (Barrington, NJ/Haddon Heights) went 2-for-3 with two doubles, including a leadoff hit in the seventh before Grochowski pinch-ran for her at second base. Schlichtig also notched the win and improved to 27-5 scattering six hits and one run while walking two and fanning three.

After Rutgers-Camden struck first on an outfield error in the third, Ursinus junior shortstop Marci Logan (Voorhees, NJ/Eastern Regional) drilled a run-scoring single to make it 1-1 in the fifth.

Sophomore catcher Mo Baney (Deptford, NJ/Deptford), senior center fielder Becky Johnson (Bridgeton, NJ/Cumberland Regional) and sophomore left fielder Tara Fisher (Upper Deerfield, NJ/Cumberland Regional) each went 2-for-3 as the Scarlet Raptors pounded out 10 hits.

Sophomore right fielder Mary Reid (Hatboro, PA/Hatboro Horsham) and freshman first baseman Lindsay Schmidt (Orefield, PA/Parkland) each finished 2-for-3 for the Bears. Sophomore righty Mallory Greene (Stowe, PA/Pottsgrove) dropped to 16-4 after allowing 10 hits and no earned runs. She struck out four while walking none.
