Louisiana-Lafayette 7, Oregon 5

NORMAN, Okla. -- No. 3 seed Louisiana-Lafayette topped No. 2 Oregon 7-5 Friday in the first game of the NCAA Regional No. 14 Championships at the OU Softball Complex in Norman, Okla.

A three-run homer off the bat of ULL first baseman Lacey Bertucci extended the Ragin' Cajuns lead to 4-0 in the top of the fourth, but the Ducks' Beth Boskovich answered back with a three-run homer of her own in the 6th. The Cajuns scored one more run in the final inning to pull off the win and advance to the winner's bracket.

ULL improves its record to 51-8 and moves on to play the winner of Friday night's Oklahoma-Wichita State contest at 10 a.m. Oregan falls to 34-24 overall and will face the loser of the OU-WSU game at 12:30 p.m.

Game Notes

*ULL right fielder Danyele Gomez's homer in the top of the 1st marked her 20th of the year.

*The Ragin' Cajuns tied the NCAA tournament single game record (4) for most HRs by a single team.

*The Cajuns have not lost a contest since April 30 and extended their winning streak to 11.

*Beth Boskovich moved up to ninth place on Oregon's all-time career homer list.

*With Kathy Arendsen as head coach, Oregon is 1-5 against ULL. The Ducks' only win against the Cajuns during Arendsen's tenure came in 2003 when they won 9-2 in the NCAA regional tournament in Fullerton, Calif.
