REDLANDS, Calif. -- Concordia (Calif.) won a doubleheader against No. 11 Redlands, 17-1 and 7-3.

In game one the Eagles blew it wide open with a 17-1 win in five innings. Katie Cotta made her first start of the year for CUI, going four innings, allowing four hits and one run, with five strikeouts.

Alyssa Erickson went 3-4 for the Eagles, with three RBI's and a homer. Amanda Fama was 3-3 with three batted in and a home run. Jennifer Simons added three RBI's, and Chanele Dresser and Katie Carson each had two. Brittani McGue pitched the fifth inning in relief three up, three down with one strikeout.

Carson and Dresser led off the first with singles, and Fama doubled to score Carson. Dresser was thrown out at home later in the inning, but Fama scored when Jennifer Simons stole second with two outs. The Eagles tacked on another run in the second inning when Emily Craig singled and a Carson triple scored her.

CUI made it ugly in the third with eight runs. Fama, Jorgenson, and Simons all reached to start the inning. Bryana Simpson singled up the middle to score two, and Erickson singled a batter later to score another. Carson grounded out to second base to bring in one more, and Dresser stepped up after that to plate two more with a single. 

Fama added insult to injury when she hit a two-run bomb. After the damage the Eagles were up 11-0 after just three innings. Redlands homered in the bottom half of the third for its only run of the game.

CUI added six more in the fifth. Carson walked, Amanda Leon was hit by a pitch, Fama walked and Jorgenson walked to score Carson. Simons then doubled to score two more. Erickson came up with two outs and hit a two-run homer.

CUI scored 17 runs on 17 hits and left four on base. Cotta went to 1-0 on the year.

In game two CUI won a closer battle and took it 7-3. Courtney Young started the game for the Eagles and went four and 2/3 innings allowing five hits, and three runs, only two of which were earned. 

Amanda Fama went 2-4 with three RBI's and two homers. Alicia Lucatero was 2-3 with one RBI and Bryana Simpson was 2-4 with a RBI. Brittani McGue pitched 2.1 innings and allowed one hit, no runs, with three K's.

CUI jumped out again scoring two in the first. Fama homered with two outs and Jorgenson came around to score on a Simpson single after she reached on single to the right side. Redlands put one across in the bottom half after an Eagle error and a wild pitch.

The Eagles scratched one across in the fourth as Erickson and Groom singled, Lucatero was hit by a pitch and Carson walked to bring in Erickson. In the fifth Simpson scored after reaching on a bunt single, stealing third, and coming home on a Lucatero single. 

Redlands threatened a comeback in the bottom of the fifth, as the Bulldogs scored two runs on four hits. McGue came in to replace Young, and limited the damage by only allowing one inherited runner to score.

CUI tacked on two insurance runs in the sixth and one in the seventh. Dresser singled to lead off the sixth and a two-run Fama bomb plated two. Lucatero doubled with two out in the seventh and scored on a Carson single.

Courtney Young improved to 2-0 on the season.
