Cox’s no-hitter lifts Tampa

CLEARWATER, Fla. – No. 19 Tampa (5-0) completed the sweep at the Eckerd College Invitational by defeating both Palm Beach Atlantic (5-5) and Flagler (7-2) in a Sunday morning double-header.

Kayla Cox started the first game for the Spartans to improve her record to 2-0, pitching a no-hitter. She went 7.0 innings while striking out 12. Cox’s no-hitter is the 10th no-hitter in UT history, and her first as a Spartan.

Tampa was just as strong on offense, as it defeated PBA 7-0. Susan Jallo and Elizabeth Milhan were the top performers for Tampa. Jallo delivered a three-run home run and scored two runs, while Milhan had a two-run double.

In the second game, Deanna Henriott improved her record to 3-0, as UT defeated Flagler by a score of 4-1. Henriott had 10 strikeouts in 7.0 innings while allowing four hits.

Stacy Piagno, Katlyn Raatz, and Milhan drove in runs during the game. Piagno and Raatz eached finished with one RBI and two basehits.
