RALEIGH, N.C. -- Seventh-ranked Emory broke out the bats on Friday afternoon as the Eagles slugged their way to a pair of victories at Peace. Emory upped its record to 6-0 on the season following 10-0 (six inning) and 12-0 (five innings) decisions against the Pacers who saw their record fall to 2-2. 

In the opener, the Eagles collected 14 hits with five players registering a pair of safeties. Brooke Healey scored twice and drove in a pair of runs with a double while Ellyn Kocoloski also crossed the plate twice while knocking in a run. After a scoreless first inning, the Eagles put three runs up in their half of the second with Kocoloski, Claire Bailey and Ally Kersthold all delivering run-producing singles. 

After scoring twice in the top of the third frame, Emory blew the game wide open with a five-run sixth with Megan Light pushing in the first score with a double that allowed Jessica Thomas to cross the plate. Lena Brottman posted the win, raising her record to 4-0, tossing all six frames and allowing six hits while fanning seven. 

Emory hit safely 13 times in the second contest that saw Thomas pick up a pair of hits and three runs scored while Bailey collected two hits and crossed the plate twice. After scoring an unearned run in the first, the Eagles tacked on four runs in their half of the third with Bailey's single scoring Kertshold who opened the inning with a triple. 

Healey and Jessica Boni also came through with RBIs in helping stake Emory to a 5-0 lead. The Eagles scored three times in the fourth after the first two batters were retired with a triple by Sophia Tarte scoring Light and a Kocoloski single scoring Tarte. Emory followed that inning with a four-run fifth. Bridget Holloway got her second win in as many decisions after hurling the first four innings and surrendering just one hit while striking out three.
