CATHEDRAL CITY, Calif. – No. 13 Georgia closed out its run at the Cathedral City Classic with a 3-2 win against No. 6 Oklahoma on Saturday.
With the win, the Bulldogs improved to 12-2 on the season while the Sooners fell to 9-3. Through the three-day stay in California, Georgia compiled a 4-1 record after defeating No. 15 Arizona, Cal State Fullerton, No. 7 UCLA and the Sooners. UGA’s only blemish came against No. 5 Washington on Friday.
Freshman Paige Wilson posted a .438 batting in the five games, as the shortstop had seven hits and seven RBI. Junior Tess Sito followed, hitting .421 with team highs of eight hits and nine RBI. Wilson, Sito and seniors Kristyn Sandberg and Ashley Razey each hit three home runs.

In the circle, sophomore Morgan Montemayor led the way with two wins while Sito and senior Erin Arevalo each collected a win. Arevalo notched 13 strikeouts while Montemayor had 11.
Montemayor (4-1) earned the win against the Sooners after striking out five and giving up seven hits in her complete game. Oklahoma All-American Keilani Ricketts (4-3) suffered the loss, as she allowed four hits and retired 10 batters.
Georgia jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second behind a Wilson homer down the right field line. The long ball brought in Tiesha Reed, who came in for Sandberg after she was hit by a pitch.
After four more scoreless innings, the Sooners answered with a two-run home run of their own in the sixth, as Ricketts’ hit scored Jessica Shults from first base to tie the game. However, in the bottom frame, Razey took a shot beyond the fence for what proved to be the game-winning run.
