AMERICUS, Ga. -- No. 4 Armstrong Atlantic split a Peach Belt Conference double-header at Georgia Southwestern State on Thursday at Lady Canes Field. The Hurricanes took game one 1-0 while the Pirates took game two 10-1 in five innings.

The split halted a nine-game winning streak for the Pirates (20-3-1, 5-1 PBC), while Georgia Southwestern moved to 17-15 overall and 2-6 in the Peach Belt Conference.

Game one was settled by one pitch as Nellie Moore's solo home run in the third inning was the difference in the 1-0 victory by the Hurricanes. Allison Pastor (7-5) limited the Pirates to five hits, striking out eight in the complete-game shutout, while Megan Barnwell (13-2) took the hard-luck loss, giving up four hits and one run in six innings of work, walking three while striking out three.

In game two, the Pirates jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead on Hannah Reppert's two-run home run in the top of the first inning. Georgia Southwestern answered with a single run in the bottom of the first on Avery Purser's RBI double, but Rachel Reynolds' RBI single in the top of the second made it 3-1, then Bridget Devlin cranked a two-run shot in the third to make the score 5-1.

Armstrong put the game away with two more runs in the fourth inning on a wild pitch and a Reppert RBI single, then added three in the fifth inning on a Reynolds RBI double, a Shelby Duff RBI triple and a Kat Vogler RBI single.

Duff (4-1) collected the game-two win for the Pirates by hurling five innings of three-hit, one-run ball, walking four while striking out one. Ashley Cavender (5-5) took the loss for the Hurricanes, giving up four hits and three runs in 1 1/3 innings of work.

Alexis Mercer had four hits in the double-header to pace the Pirates at the plate on the day, while Shelby Duff had three hits. Georgia Southwestern was led by Elliott Martin's three hits in the doubleheader.
