No. 15 Washington wins conference battle against No. 10 Oregon
SEATTLE -- An RBI single to right field by junior Kelli Suguro in the sixth inning drove in pinch runner Whitney Jones for the winning run in a tight 2-1 victory against No. 10 Oregon on Saturday afternoon in game three of the series.
In front of a crowd of more than 1,300, No. 15 Washington (25-10, 3-3) handed Oregon (28-5, 5-1) its first Pac-12 loss of the season.
Washington had its best offensive outing on the weekend, tallying eight hits against two great Oregon pitchers. Jessica Moore started the game and allowed the first run and freshman Cheridan Hawkins (12-2) gave up the second.
Senior Shawna Wright had a team-high two hits for the Dawgs.
Junior Bryana Walker got the start in the circle for UW, allowing the lone Oregon run. Fellow junior Kaitlin Inglesby pitched 5.2 innings in relief and allowed just three hits picking up her 11th win of the year.
Kailee Cuico got Oregon on the board first with a solo home run in the second.
The first Husky run came in the fourth as Inglesby singled to left to lead off the inning. Junior Hooch Fagaly singled to right and sophomore Kimberlee Souza hit a sac bunt to advance the runners.
