Wisconsin-Stevens Point outlasts William Paterson in 11 innings
CLERMONT, Fla. -- Wisconsin-Stevens Point outlasted William Paterson 2-1 in 11 innings and fell 7-6 to Eastern Connecticut State in a split doubleheader on Wednesday.
Miranda Morrison and Sydney Gorges combined to yield just four hits and one unearned run for UW-Stevens Point against the Pioneers (6-2). Morrison went seven innings, giving up three hits and the lone unearned run, while striking out nine against zero walks. Gorges allowed just two batters to reach in the final four innings.
With the score tied 1-1 entering the top of the 11th, Jordon Schreiner began the inning placed on second base and advanced to third on a groundout by Bekah Rennicke. Gorges then singled in Schreiner for the eventual game-winning run, as part of Gorges' three-hit game.
Schreiner threw out the potential game-tying run in the bottom of the 11th to end the game.
