COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State launched its regular season with a 174-84 victory against Division III power Kenyon College on Friday in a meet at the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion.
“It’s great to see some good competition again. I thought our team competed well and raced well tonight. The most important thing we wanted to do was to get a lot of people a lot of swims,” Ohio State head coach Bill Wadley said. “Overall, I’m very pleased with our effort tonight, especially the freshmen.”
Multiple-event winners for the Buckeyes were senior Andrew Elliott in the 100 backstroke, 200 backstroke and as the leadoff of the 200 medley relay; freshman Tamas Gercsak in the 200 butterfly, 200 breaststroke and 200 IM; sophomore Alex Miller in the 500 and 100 free.
Senior Lincoln Fahrbach won the 100 butterfly and was part of the victorious 200 medley relay, as was freshman Keanu Stevenson, who also won the 100 breaststroke.
Kenyon won the men’s 200 freestyle relay. The score at the mid-point break was Ohio State 108, Kenyon 23.
