Wisconsin-La Crosse sends two divers to nationals after regional performance
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Wisconsin-La Crosse divers Andrew Janny and Justin Bublitz earned invitations to the 2013 NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships on Saturday. Both qualified for the 1 meter national championships after qualifying on Saturday in the NCAA Division III Diving Central Regional at the Venema Aquatic Center on the campus of Calvin on Friday and Saturday.
Janny placed third in the one-meter competition with 470.95 points while Bublitz was sixth with 466.30.
Both will be able to compete in the three-meter competition at the national championships as well. Janny was 10th (467.20) and Bublitz 19th (405.55) in the three-meter Friday in Grand Rapids.
UW-La Crosse's Jordan Anderson and Tessa Kahring also competed in the NCAA III Diving Central Regional this weekend, but failed to qualify for the national championships. Anderson was seventh (435.35 points) in the three-meter and 10th in the one-meter (404.55) while Kahring placed eighth (417.25) in the three-meter and 13th (402.70) in the one-meter.
The 2013 NCAA Division III Championships are scheduled for March 20-23 at the Conroe ISD Natatorium in Shenandoah, Texas.
