Denison takes down Kenyon

Big Red’s Swanson wins 400 medley relay and 200 freestyle

GAMBLER, Ohio — Denison completed its wild weekend of competition with a 127-114 victory against Kenyon College at the Kenyon Athletic Center.

Denison captured eight of 13 events en route to the 13-point victory. Natalie Lugg, Alyssa Swanson and first-year diver Katie Collins led DU with two wins apiece.  Lugg picked up her pair of first place performances in the 400 medley relay and in the 200 breaststroke where she posted a ‘B’ cut time of 2:23.57 which was also a season-best time.

Swanson was also a part of the winning 400 medley relay along with Lugg, Brenna Broadus and Sarah Yu. They combined for a season-best, ‘B’ cut time of 3:53.74. Swanson also earned a win in the 200 freestyle in 1:52.68.

For Colllins, she recorded season-best scores in both the one-meter and three-meter dives. In the three-meter, she tallied 264.38 points and in the one-meter she posted a score of 213.00. Rachel Kesselring placed second in both diving events for the Big Red.

Other winners for Denison included Hilary Callen in the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:28.63), Emily Schroeder in the 200 backstroke (2:06.46) and Morgan Nuess in the 50 freestyle (23.96). Schroeder and Nuess’ times were both ‘B’ cuts and season-best times.
