MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – Amherst moved to 2-0 with a convincing win at Wesleyan, as the Lord Jeffs featured the top performer in all events.
Katie Vincett stood out as the only Lord Jeff to win two events. The Amherst junior had the fastest time in the 100- and 200-yard freestyles (54.32, 2:00.67) and swam the final leg of the 400-yard freestyle relay to help the visitors put in a winning time of 3:41.97.
Winning the remainder of the freestyle events were Ashleigh Stoddart in the 50 (25.00), Becca Thompson in the 500 (5:18.59) and Stephanie Ternullo in the 1,000 (10:36.18). Freshman Courtney Flynn won the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:24.99, only five one-hundredths of a second ahead of sophomore Abby Hahn (2:25.04), as both swimmers narrowly missed the NCAA ‘B’ cut.
Sabrina Lee and Cassie Gross won the 200 back (2:08.72) and 200 fly (2:13.56), respectively, while Nicole Heise led the way in the 400 IM (4:46.50). Teaming up to win the 400 medley relay were freshmen Lee, Flynn, Stoddart and Ricka Sadovnikoff (4:02.52).
Lizzy Linsmayer was the top performer in the 1-meter dive (223.13) and 3-meter dive (183.60), with classmate Claire Wagner taking the runner-up spot on each board.
