GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Grand Valley State leads the way after the first day of competition at the Calvin Winter Invitational with 122 team points. Calvin sits in second place with 71 points, followed by Indianapolis (66) and Hillsdale (55).
The Lakers scored 64 points in the 800 free relay as the GVSU “A” relay touched second and the “B” relay touched fourth. The “A” relay team of Carly Bush, Olivia Schultz, Caitlyn Madsen and Sarah Kosmak touched the wall in 7:39.49 and hit a solid NCAA “B” standard, while Sarah Roeser, Danielle Vallier, Kristen Emerson and Erika Tribuzi touched in 7:50.29.
Bush won the 1,650 freestyle and just missed the “A” standard with a time of 17:01.52. Emerson finished fourth with a time of 17:59.25, while Amy Akers touched eighth (18:16.06) and Tribuzi ninth (18:19.48).
Madsen swam a 100 butterfly time trial and hit the NCAA “B” mark with a time of 56.10.
