SUNY Geneseo wins SUNYAC again
Max turns in dominating performance to propel Blue Knights
BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Abby Max won two individual events, placed second in another and was part of three winning and one second place relay squads to lead SUNY Geneseo to its fifth consecutive SUNYAC title by scoring 721.5 points to Fredonia's 657.5 points at the Erie Community College pool on Saturday.
Max won the 500 free (5:01.70) and 200 free (1:52.58) and placed second in the 200 back (2:04.95) to record three NCAA provisional qualifying times. She teamed with first year Haleigh Wixson, Lauren Boyce, and junior Elyssa Max to post an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 3:31.77 in winning the 400 free relay.
Max swam with sophomore Lily Powell, Corinne Vairo and Elyssa Max to win the 800 free relay in 7:45.61, anchored the winning 400 medley relay team of Wixson, junior Kaitlin Wilcoxen and Powell to an NCAA provisional time of 3:54.63 and combined with Wixson, Vairo and Elyssa Max to finish second in the 200 free relay in 1:37.22.
Wilcoxen posted the lone other win for the Blue Wave with a time of 2:25.08 in the 200 breaststroke. Boyce finished second in the 200 IM in 2:10.82 and third in the 100 back in 59.87, Wixson was second in the 100 back in 58.59, Wilcoxen finished third in the 100 breast in 1:07.73, Katie Jesaitis swam third in the 200 breast in 2:30.07 and Powell placed third in the 200 fly in 2:09.27.
