BATON ROUGE, La. — No. 33 LSU picked up its second victory of the day, defeating New Orleans 7-0 on Tuesday night at W.T. “Dub” Robinson Stadium.
LSU (3-2) defeated Louisiana-Lafayette 6-1 earlier on Tuesday afternoon before handing UNO (1-1) its first loss of the season.
The nationally-ranked Tigers won both contested doubles’ matches to claim the first point in the dual. LSU’s Neal Skupski and Sebastian Carlsson downed Benjamin Bouhana and Hossam Meligy 8-1 at the No. 1 court with Tom Knights and Julien Gauther picking up an 8-2 win at the No. 2 court against Vinay Kamineni and Rohit Chivukula.
In singles’ play, LSU did not drop a single set in five contested matches.
Skupski defeated Bouhana 6-3, 6-4 at No. 1 with Carlsson cruising to a 6-1, 6-0 victory against Kamineni at No. 2. Oliver Grimbly met defeat 6-0, 6-1 at the hands of Szacinski at No. 3 with Knights dispatching Meligy 6-2, 6-2 on the No. 4 court.
A 6-0, 6-0 win by David Roberts against Chivukula at No. 5 coupled with a forfeit victory by Roger Anderson at No. 6 closed out the shutout by LSU.
