WALTHAM, Mass. – Already off to a 4-0 start in the conference, Bentley was voted the favorite in the Northeast-10 coaches poll released Monday.
The Falcons received 114 points and seven first-place votes to top the poll, while Merrimack came in second with 110 points and four first-place votes. Stonehill (93 points), Adelphi (89 points, one first place vote) and Southern New Hampshire (85 points) make up the rest of the top five.
Bentley is trying to defending its 2010 regular-season championship, which it won with a perfect 11-0 record. The Falcons won their four conference matches in the fall by a combined score of 35-1 and they’ve won 18 consecutive versus teams from the NE-10, including three in last year’s run to the NE-10 Tournament championship.
Bentley’s spring season gets under way on March 9 at Brandeis. Its first NE-10 match is against Saint Anselm on March 26.
