PENSACOLA, Fla. – No. 5 West Florida snapped a three-match losing streak with a 6-3 win against No. 15 Drury Tuesday at the Ralph “Skeeter” Carson Tennis Complex on the UWF campus.

UWF (13-8, 2-1 GSC) recorded victories at the Nos. 1 and 3 doubles positions. On the No. 1 line, Andrey Pozhidaev and Leandro Ferreira defeated Andy Blair and Sergio Manzanas 8-3. Lukas Larsson and Mike Lue defeated Jandui Reyes and Carlos Ramos Salazar 8-3 at No. 3. Roman Gonda and Lukas Kriem defeated Argonauts Sean Gunnels and Domenico Sano 8-3 at the No. 2 spot.

UWF’s additional four points were tallied at the Nos. 2, 3, 4 and 5 singles positions. Pozhidaev, the No. 20 singles player in the country, defeated Gonda 6-3, 6-4 at No. 2 to get it started.

Gunnels recorded a 7-6, 6-4 victory against Manzanas at the No. 3 line while at No. 4, Lue defeated Daniel Castelao 6-3, 6-3. Sano dropped just one game as he defeated Kriem 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5.

Ferreira, who is currently ranked No. 15 in the nation, suffered a 6-2, 1-6, 6-10 loss to Blair at the top singles spot. Blair is currently ranked No. 42 in the country and No. 2 in the Midwest Region. At No. 6, Reyes downed UWF freshman Guilherme Canineo 7-6, 7-5.
