ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla.-The ninth-ranked North Florida Ospreys jumped out to a quick lead, then held on for a 5-2 win as the 11th-ranked Ouachita Baptist Tigers made a bid to upset another top-10 team at the 2005 NCAA Division II National Tennis Tournament on Friday at Sanlando Park.

The Ospreys came up with two of the three doubles points. The Tigers grabbed the first point as Jakub Smid and Ondrej Vana defeated UNF's Elad Gabay and Eduardo Perriera 8-4 at number two. North Florida, however, battled back to take 9-7 wins at numbers one and three. Leonardo Gomes and German Escallon upset OBU's 18th-ranked pair of Emilian Rabin and Vagen Akapian, while at number three, Damian De Polignac and Jose Maria Terrera battled back from a 5-3 deficit to knock off the Tigers' Alejandro Chong and Joan Costa.

In singles, the Ospreys quickly made it 4-1 as Perriera bumped off Rabin 6-1, 6-3 at number one and Terrera handled Akapian 6-1, 6-4 at number two. But Costa defeated Glen Marshall 6-2, 6-3 at number six to pull OBU to within 4-2 and the teams split sets at numbers three four and five. At number five, UNF's Gabay rallied back from his first set loss to defeat Vana 1-6, 6-2, 6-4 to clinch the win for the Ospreys.

North Florida advances back to the national championship match for the first time since falling 4-2 to Lander in 1995 at UC Davis. The Ospreys will face the defending champion West Florida Argonauts in an all-Sunshine State match up at 10:00 am Saturday, May 14.
