The Middlebury College Panthers have moved onto the semifinals after a commanding 4-0 win over the University of Mary Washington. The Eagles of Mary Washington were flying high midway through the doubles with 5-3 leads at the No. 1 and No. 2. After the first rain delay Nate Hathaway and Paul Bristow went on to win the No. 1 for Mary Washington. Minutes later Brian Waldron and Nate Edmunds kept Middlebury alive with a commanding 8-1 victory at the No. 3. Meanwhile the No. 2 doubles were battling it out, with Mary Washington trying to hold onto the lead at 7-5 but Ari Beilin and Alex Scott of Middlebury put the pressure on and forced the tiebreaker and pulled out the victory. After the second rain delay the match was moved to nearby Cabrillo College, and it was smooth sailing for Middlebury as they went on to win the first 3 singles points. Middlebury will face Gustavus Adolphus in the semi-finals tomorrow at 9am (East Tennis Courts).
