ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. - The 16th-ranked St. Edward's men's tennis team defeated 46th-ranked Mesa State 6-0, Wednesday evening in the Round of 16 at the Men's Tennis 2010 National Championships from Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, Fla.

The win secures St. Edward's a spot in the quarterfinals.

St. Edward's prevailed in each of their three doubles matches, despite being challenged in each contest. Mick Walters and Boris Barrios upended the Mesa State team of Chomko and Provenza, 8-4. They were joined by the teams of Ned Boone and Brett Powers and Justin Raiti Mick Walters, as each duo claimed 9-7 wins.

On the singles side, Boone registered his second win of the day with an impressive 6-1, 6-4 win over Chomko. Lancaster and Raiti followed with simultaneous single victories to solidify the match. Lancaster defeated Carrizo 6-1, 6-1, while Raiti defeated Hernandez 6-1, 6-3.

The win puts St. Edward's into the NCAA Quarterfinals on Thursday, May 13 where they will take on Concordia at 1:00 p.m.
