SAVANNAH, Ga. -- No. 12-ranked Flagler collectd a 5-1 win versus Augusta State in the first round of the Southeast Regional Championship.

The Saints (12-7), who are making their third consecutive NCAA appearance since moving to Division II from NAIA, won their opening match in the regionals for the third year in a row, avenging a 5-4 loss to Augusta State (16-9) in the Peach Belt Conference semifinals in April.

Flagler put to rest any thoughts of a Jaguars repeat by claiming wins in all three doubles matches for a 3-0 lead. Peter Coulis and Adam Hunt knocked off Maxime Couloumb and Jenner Stevenson, 8-4, at No. 3 doubles, followed by No. 5 David Cotrone and Gino Ramirez besting 13th-ranked Henrique Boturao and Bernardo Fernandes, 8-4, at No. 1 doubles. Uriel Oquendo and Harry Snoxell completed the sweep with an 8-6 win against Victor Cabellos and Victor Guimaraes.

The Saints then won two straight-set singles matches to clinch the victory against the Jaguars. After Augusta State's Cabellos claimed the Jaguars' only point with a 6-1, 6-2 win versus Ramirez at No. 3 singles, third-ranked Cotrone claimed a 6-2, 6-1 win against No. 22 Fernandes at No. 1 singles. Snoxell clinched the match for Flagler with a 6-4, 6-3 defeat of Giumaraes at No. 4.

With Monday's victory, Flagler advances to face host and No. 2-ranked Armstrong Atlantic State.
