Rockhurst flies by Nebraska-Kearney
Hawks shut out Lopers while moving into NCAA quarterfinals
ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. -- Rockhurst posted a 5-0 victory against Nebraska-Kearney in the Round of 16 of the NCAA Division II Championships on Wednesday.
Rockhurst jumped out to a 3-0 lead against Nebraska-Kearney by sweeping the doubles play.
Ben and Zach Newell won their No. 1 doubles match 8-5 against Josh Raymond and Yeswanth Nadella. John Lazenby and Victor Klintcharov were 8-4 winners in No. 2 doubles versus John Steinke and Kyle Conzemius, while Rodolfo Gauto-Mariotti and Pawel Grzegrzolka captured an 8-3 victory against Rodrigo Duncan and Josh Smith at No. 3 doubles.
Gauto-Mariotti won his No. 4 singles match 6-2, 6-0, against UNK's John Steinke. Grzegrzolka followed as a winner at No. 6 singles versus Smith 6-2, 6-4 while the other four singles matches were unfinished. Rockhurst lead in three of the matches at their completion.
