Trinity shuts out Texas Lutheran
Carroll wins singles and doubles match for the Tigers
SAN ANTONIO -- Trinity earned its second consecutive win on Sunday afternoon, defeating Texas Lutheran with a 9-0 shutout.
Trinity (2-1) played its first Division III opponent, having faced off against Division II and Junior College opponents prior to today.
This evening's match against Division II Incarnate Word was postponed due to inclement weather. The Tigers and Cardinals will play on Friday afternoon.
Ben Carroll was Trinity's only winner in both singles and doubles, as the Tigers featured a variety of players. Carroll won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles, and teamed with Jacob Straus for an 8-1 win at No. 3 doubles.
Charlie Curtis won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, while Arvind Fernando was a 6-0, 6-2 winner at the No. 3 spot. Brandon Thompson (6-0, 6-1) and Pablo Diaz Boom (6-1, 6-0) both won at the fourth and fifth positions, while Franklin Davis rounded out the singles spots with his 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 6.
Trinity's top doubles team in Max Frey and Erick DelaFuente won 8-4 against TLU, while Greg Haugen and Jordan Mayer won 8-3 at No. 2 doubles.
