No. 5 Lynn rolls past No. 18 Saint Leo
Fighting Knights sweep doubles matches in rout of Lions
BOCA RATON, Fla. -- No. 5 Lynn amassed an 8-1 win against No. 18 Saint Leo on Saturday in a Sunshine State Conference match.
All three Lynn (4-0, 2-0 SSC) doubles teams collected wins to start the match up 3-0. The No. 4 team of Amaury Van Haelen and Vlad Cirla went 8-4 against No. 21 Matt Nicholson-Lewis and Victor Lozier and the No. 8 combo of Willi Wolfer and Luca Pavanelli routed Saint Leo’s Antonine Raffaelli and Gonzerez-Tarrio 8-1. George Laffey and Max Kouyate posted an 8-2 win against Aloua Adjenak and Jake Fleischer to complete the doubles sweep.
Fifth-ranked Wolfer needed a seventh game in the first set to drop No. 32 Nicholson-Lewis 7-5, 6-2 but No. 12 Cirla made quick work of Adjenak with a 6-0, 6-2 win.
At number three singles, No. 43 Pavanelli suffered his first loss of the season to No. 27 Lozier in a 6-4, 6-2 contest. In the fourth singles flight, Kouyate dropped Gonzalez-Tarrio 7-5, 6-1 and Van Haelen defeated Raffaelli 6-4, 6-1 in number five singles.
Ben Kendall rolled through Fleischer 7-5, 6-2 in the sixth singles flight to remain a perfect 3-0 on the season.
The Florida Southern Mocs come to Boca in the next match for Lynn on Feb. 24.
