COLUMBUS, Ga. – No. 3-ranked Armstrong Atlantic State remained unbeaten on the season with a 9-0 blanking of No. 7-ranked West Florida on Saturday in Columbus, Ga.

The Pirates moved to 6-0 in the 2012 dual match season with the win, while West Florida (2-1) suffered its first loss of the season.

Armstrong dropped only six games combined in sweeping all three doubles matches for a quick 3-0 lead. Mikk Irdoja and Georgi Rumenov began with an 8-3 win against Kevin Ducros and Bruno Savi at No. 1 doubles, while Sven Lalic and Pedro Scocuglia teamed for an 8-2 win against Mike Lue and Andrey Pozhidaev at No. 2 doubles. Eudaldo Bonet and Matus Mydla completed the doubles sweep with an 8-1 win against Sean Gunnels and Domenico Sano.

The Pirates then won all six singles matches in straight sets to complete the sweep. Rumenov downed Ducros, 6-2, 6-0, at No. 1 singles while No. 2-ranked Bonet beat No. 10-ranked Savi, 6-1, 6-2, at No. 2 singles. Irdoja knocked off No. 19-ranked Pozhidaev, 6-0, 6-3, at No. 3 singles while No. 9-ranked Mydla knocked off Gunnels, 6-2, 6-0, at No. 4 singles.

No. 39-ranked Lalic bested Lue, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 5 singles and No. 28-ranked Scocuglia completed the singles play with a 6-3, 6-4 win against Sano at No. 6 singles.
