No. 9 Columbus State routs Tuskegee
Rayniere clinches victory for Cougars with win at No. 2 singles
TUSKEGEE, Ala. -- Ninth-ranked Columbus State blanked Tuskegee in the final four singles matches as the Cougars swept past the Golden Tigers 9-0 on Thursday afternoon.
In doubles action, Gordan Divljak and Quentin Rayniere won their match 8-1 against David Mohammed and Gabriel Byrd at the No. 1 position. Michael Trebuhov and Adi Malicbegovic moved to No. 2 doubles and had no problem winning the match 8-2 against Andrew Knight and Arion Williams. In the final doubles match of the day, Danilo Sardelli and Oussama Zoghlami defeated Bobby Smith and E.G. Pugh 8-1 to extend the Cougars lead to 3-0.
Divljak played at No. 1 singles for the first time this season for the Cougars (12-1) and defeated Mohammed 6-2, 6-2. Rayniere played just one set at No. 2 singles winning it 6-0 before Byrd retired giving the Cougars the match-clinching point. Zoghlami had the first shutout for CSU at No. 3 singles winning the match 6-0, 6-0 against Knight. Sardelli defeated Pugh at No. 4 singles 6-0, 6-0.
Trebuhov and Malicbegovic continued the trend for the Cougars at No. 5 and No. 6 singles. Trebuhov defeated Williams 6-0, 6-0 at the fifth spot while Malicbegovic won 6-0, 6-0 against Smith in the final match of the afternoon.
