PAMONA, Calif. — Williams continued its successful spring break Tuesday with a 7-2 victory of UC Santa Cruz on the campus of Pomona-Pitzer.

The Ephs got off to a strong start in doubles play, taking all three matches. The top pair of Bryan Chow and Trey Meyer won their pro-set by a slightly wider margin than the two other winning duos, claiming an 8-4 victory compared to two 8-5 wins.

Singles play featured close matches across the board. Williams’ Felix Sun and Zach Weiss were the only two players on either side to win in straight sets. Sun took his match 6-0, 6-4 and Weiss 6-1, 6-3.

The Ephs and Slugs split the remaining matches, four three setters. Trey Meyer and Bryan Chow claimed wins for Williams at numbers one and five, respectively. Meyer lost his first set 5-7 but won his second 6-2. The third proved to be a marathon 12-10 that Meyer was able to scrape out. Chow went down 4-6 in his first set but claimed the second 6-4, before taking the third 10-8.
