No. 7 Concordia (N.Y.) clips Delta St.

Clippers open up three-match Florida trip with convincing win

PENSACOLA, Fla. — Seventh-ranked Concordia (N.Y.) opened up its three-game Florida trip on Friday afternoon. The Clippers battled Delta State and came away with a 5-1 victory, their 10th of the season.

In doubles competition, Concordia’s Ricardo Frey and Tomasz Olfans won at No. 1 doubles 9-7 to begin the match. Geza Bazula and Daniele Piludu followed with an 8-1 victory at No. 2 doubles to take a 2-0 lead in the overall score. Andreas Lindell and David Tisserand were unable to capture the win at No. 3 doubles as they fell 8-5. The Clippers carried a 2-1 advantage heading into singles play.

Piludu continued his strong play with a 6-3, 6-1 victory at No. 1 singles which gave the Clippers a 3-1 lead. Both Lindell and Tisserand rebounded from their doubles losses to capture wins in their singles matches. Andreas captured a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 4 singles while David took home a 6-4, 6-1 victory at No. 3 singles to give Concordia the overall victory.
