No. 21 Swarthmore tops Gettysburg
Garnet did not surrender a single set against the Bullets
GETTYSBURG, Pa. -- No. 21 Swarthmore (10-8, 4-2 CC) got back to its dominating ways on Wednesday afternoon, routing the Gettysburg (6-6, 2-4 CC) 9-0 without giving up a set in the match.
Swarthmore got off to a quick start, taking down the Bullets in doubles action, led by sophomore Christian Carcione and freshman Irving Stone who took down Gettysburg 8-1.
Sophomore Anthony Collard made the start at the No. 1 slot for the Garnet and fought for a 6-1, 6-4 victory against Chris Curran.
In the No. 2 spot, sophomore Max Kaye took down Mike McLaughlin 6-0, 6-3, putting Swarthmore up 5-0 in the match and sealing the Conference victory.
From the point on, Swarthmore only surrendered two games throughout the number three, four, five and six matches.
Sophomore Preston Poon and Stone blanked their opponents, 6-0 and 6-0, in the No. 3 and 5 spots respectively. Carcione and junior Malik Mubeen allowed the Bullets to pick up one game in either match as they each came out on top, 6-0 and 6-1.
