NORMAN, Okla. – No. 8 Oklahoma (5-1) defeated No. 17 Tulsa (3-4) 5-1 on Friday at the Gregg Wadley Indoor Pavilion.

“Tulsa’s a good team, as we’ve known over the last few years,” OU head coach John Roddick said. “It’s no different this year. They beat a really good Baylor team last week. So it was a tough match.”

OU claimed the first team point after Costin Paval and Dane Webb, and Peerakit Siributwong and Leonard Stakhovsky won their doubles matches.

The Sooners continued collecting points after Stakhovsky and Axel Alvarez, who won the doubles title at ITA Central Region Championships last season, won their matches in two sets. Siributwong clinched the win for OU after he beat Tristan Jackson 6-3, 6-3.

“We played probably the most complete match we’ve played so far,” Roddick said. “We competed hard and we [closed stuff out] a lot better [Friday]. So for that, the guys can be proud of that effort.”
