ST. LOUIS – Drury gave No. 4 Washington (Mo.) its first home loss in three years with a 5-4 victory againt the Bears at the Creve Couer Country Club on Saturday.
Drury improved to 3-0 and Washington is now 0-1.
In doubles action, Drury took court No. 1 by a match score of 8-6 and captured a 9-7 victory at court No. 2. The Bears managed to stay within striking distance with a 8-2 victory at No. 3 doubles.
In singles play, both Andy Blair at court No. 1 and Roman Gonda at court No. 2 won their matches by a 6-3, 6-4 margin.
Sergio Manzanas won a battle at No. 4 by a score of 3-6, 6-3 (10-2). It was Lukas Kriem who put the Panthers in the win column with a 6-4, 7-6(5) victory at No. 3 singles against Tim Noack. The Bears took No. 4 through No. 6 in singles play.
