LAKELAND, Fla. — No. 4 Barry defeated No. 22 Florida Southern 9-0 on Sunday to complete a two-win weekend road trip.
The Buccaneers (4-0, 3-0 SSC) were halfway through the conference season with no blemishes. In the match, the Bucs were tested in three first-set singles matches before winning the tiebreaker and pulling away in the second set.
Renato Lombardi survived a 7-6 (7-4), 6-1 No. 2 singles win against Benoit Paradis. Leo Vivas overcame Valdimir Barabash 7-6 (7-1), 6-4 at No. 4 singles. Alejandro Andino outlasted Carl Lundberg 7-6 (7-5), 6-3 at No. 6 singles.
Romain Costamagna got past Nathan Leavitt 6-3, 7-5 at No. 3 singles. Max Wimmer beat Emmanuel Luber 6-1, 6-4 at No. 1 singles. Eduardo Alfonzo breezed by Robbie Palmiotto 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5.
Wimmer and Vivas defeated Luber and Paradis 8-1 at No. 1 doubles. Ollie Lemaitre and Costamagna picked up an 8-4 victory against Leavitt and Barabash at No. 2 pairs. Lombardi and Alfonzo paired together for an 8-3 No. 3 doubles win against Lundberg and Palmiotto.
