No. 2 Kenyon overcame 2-1 deficit to defeat No. 13 Case Western Reserve 6-3
GAMBIER, Ohio -- Second-ranked Kenyon rolled through singles play en route to its 6-3 victory against No. 13 Case Western Reserve on Saturday. Paul Burgin clinched the match by claiming the fourth of five victories in singles play for the Lords.
Kenyon (12-3) fell behind 2-1 after doubles play following the Spartans' pair of wins by their top two teams. C.J. Williams set the Lords' comeback in motion with his shutout victory against John Healey (6-0, 6-0). The Lords went on to win the first three singles flights with Michael Razumovsky and Wade Heerboth collecting individual victories to take a 4-2 team lead.
After the Spartans' Eric Klawitter took a three-set victory against Tim Rosensteel to draw within one point of the Lords, Burgin closed the door on Case Western Reserve by defeating Christopher Krimbill in three sets (6-3, 3-6, 6-3), clinching the match.
Jacob Huber cleaned up the final singles match with a 7-6, 6-3 win. It was Huber's fifth consecutive individual victory.
