PENSACOLA, Fla. -- Fourth ranked Lynn defeated West Alabama to advance to the NCAA South Region Finals on Saturday. The 5-1 victory comes as the Fighting Knights 17th of the season, while West Alabama finishes the season 23-4.

Lynn took a 1-0 lead when No. 3 duo Willi Wolfer and Vlad Cirla defeated Adam Drysdale and Anton Ivanov 8-1. UWA evened the score when its number two doubles team of Nestor Vargas and Luiz Ruiz beat LU’s Max Kouyate and Alessio Iannozzi in a close 8-6 match. The freshman pair of Pavel Mojha and Simon Gloeckner won number three singles, 8-6, over Honorio Fernandez and Manuel Grossmann.

Leading 2-1 after doubles, Lynn added another point when Gloeckner won at the number six singles spot. He defeated Simon Bardell 6-1, 7-6 (7-1) for Lynn to lead 3-1.  Willi Wolfer who ranks ninth nationally, won in sets of 6-1 and 6-2 over Vargas for LU to be within a point of victory. No. 23 Cirla sealed the deal for the Blue and White with a 6-1, 6-3 win at the second spot.

Lynn will play West Florida on Sunday. The Argonauts are 24-1 this season and edged the Fighting Knights 5-4 during a regular season regional match up.
