KISSIMMEE, Fla. -- St. Cloud State handed Stonehill, ranked ninth in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division II East Regional rankings, its first loss of the year with a 5-4 victory in non-conference action at Star Island Resort this morning.

Junior Joao Poli and freshman Joao Vitor Souto were both double-winners to lead St. Cloud State to the win. Poli combined with Joao Orsi for an 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles as the Huskies won two of three doubles matches to key the win. Poli added a 6-4, 6-2 victory at No. 1 singles against Stonehill senior Nick Hyzak. Souto added a 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 3 singles against sophomore Philip Klados after teaming up with freshman Nathanial Cherry at No. 2 doubles.

Junior Tom Alaimo was a double-winner for Stonehill. He teamed up with classmate Jon Sanders for the Skyhawks lone doubles point with an 8-6 decision at No. 3. Alaimo followed with a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 6 singles against sophomore Bryan Amigo LaRosa.

Junior Eric Ringstad added a point for Stonehill by rallying for a 1-6, 6-2, 7-5 decision at No. 2 singles against Orsi. Senior Brett Armstrong posted a 6-4, 6-2 win against Cherry at No. 4 singles.
