CHICAGO, Ill. -- The University of Chicago women's tennis team defeated Washington (Mo.) University 5-0 in NCAA Division III Regional play Saturday at the Stagg Field Courts to earn its second trip to the national quarterfinals in as many years.

Sophomores Aswini Krishnan (Markham, Ontario/ Markham) and Carmen Vaca Guzman (Wyoming, Mich./ Grandville) gave the Maroons their first point with an 8-1 decision at No. 3 doubles. The win extended the tandem's winning streak to eight matches and improved their overall record to 14-1.

Junior Chrissy Hu (Palo Alto, Calif./ Palo Alto) and sophomore Kendra Higgins (Vero Beach, Fla./ Vero Beach) then notched an 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles. The defending Division III doubles champions, Higgins and Hu won their 14th consecutive match and raised their season mark to 25-5.

Chicago (22-3) completed the doubles sweep when sophomore Jennifer Kung (Sunnyvale, Calif./ Homestead) and freshman Linden Li (Great Falls, Va./ Langley) (pictured) won 8-2 at No. 2.

After a 6-1, 6-0 Hu victory at No. 5 singles, Li clinched the match with a 6-2, 6-4 decision at No. 4. Li's win marked her 10th in a row and 17th in 20 matches on the year.

Chicago will bring a 12-match winning streak into the eight-team NCAA Division III Finals to be held at the University of Mary Washington May 25-27.

Washington-St. Louis closed out its season with a 14-6 overall record.
