Tenth-ranked Clemson defeated Charleston Southern, 4-0, and No. 66 Winthrop University, 5-0, in back-to-back matches on Tuesday afternoon at the Clemson Indoor Tennis Center. The Tigers also moved up to tenth in the Campbell/ITA Tennis Poll on Tuesday.
Clemson started the day with an 8-0 victory in doubles when Nelly Ciolkowski and Caroline Magnusson defeated Isbell and Nour from Charleston Southern. Jospia Bek and Klara Vyskocilova followed with an 8-4 victory against Dzakovic and Makhova.
The Tigers went on to sweep all three doubles matches against Charleston Southern and took two of three doubles matches against Winthrop. The first of those two wins came from Ciolkowsi and Vyskocilova as they defeated Abutovic and Breuss 8-3. Then, Bek teamed up with Magnusson for an 8-2 victory against 87th-ranked Portioli and Herrera to claim the doubles point for the Tigers.
In singles, #12 Josipa Bek won both of her matches with a 6-1,6-1 victory in the first match and a 7-5, 6-1 win in the second match. Freshman Klara Vyskocilova also won both of her matches by scores of 6-1, 6-1 and 6-1, 6-0.
Maria Belaya added to the Tigers success with impressive 6-1, 6-1 and 6-0, 6-0 victories in her two matches. The final three singles matches against Charleston Southern were stopped early in order for the Tigers begin their match with Winthrop on time. However, Nelly Ciolkowski and Caroline Magnusson won both of their matches against Winthrop.
