VALDOSTA, Ga. – No. 5 West Florida fell in a 9-0 contest to No. 3 Lynn in a neutral-site match Friday. The match was UWF’s second loss of the season and its first neutral-site match as the Argonauts dropped to 2-2 while Lynn improved to 3-0.

The Argonauts started out the day by being swept in doubles. Argonauts Caitlyn Baines and Taylor Brewster lost 6-8 to Magdalena Ekert and Isabell Raich at the No. 1 position. Ekert and Raich are currently ranked No. 6 in the nation and No. 2 in the south region. Andrea Berkova and Ioana Ivan then defeated UWF’s Hannah Durham and Mariana Sonnervig at No. 2 8-2. Jacqueline March and Luiza Sonnervig fell in the final doubles match at No. 3 to Jessica Yanoff and Eleonora Iannozzi 8-5.

The Argonauts faced nationally ranked players at all six singles positions and were unable to take a match.

No. 11 Ekert defeated Brewster 7-6 (7-3), 6-2 at No. 1 while fifth-ranked Iannozzi defeated Luiza Sonnervig 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 2 slot. In the third singles position, No. 13 Raich defeated Baines 6-1, 6-4 while Mariana Sonnervig was defeated by No. 22 Ivan at the No. 4 slot 6-0, 6-1.

March fell to No. 9 Yanoff 6-2, 6-1 at the No. 5 spot and No. 21 Berkova recorded a 6-1, 6-1 victory against Durham at the No. 6 singles slot. Iannozzi, Yanoff, Ekert and Reich are the top four singles players in the south region.
