Lee rolls No. 31 St. Edward’s
Lady Rebels grab two doubles and five singles points in easy win
AUSTIN, Texas – No. 31 St. Edward’s dropped a 7-2 decision to Lee College on Wednesday afternoon at the Strohmeyer Varsity Tennis Courts. Lee entered the contest ranked No. 2 in the nation among junior colleges.
St. Edward’s (3-7) took one point from doubles play as Paige Rachel and Carolina Fahnehjelm teamed at the No. 2 doubles position to race by Manuela Gomez and Stephanie Williamson 8-3. However, the Hilltoppers fell in the Nos. 1 and 3 slots to end doubles play down 2-1.
In singles action, Anne Ruscoe bested No. 56 Gina Stephenson 7-5, 7-5 at the No. 6 position. In another close match-up, Fahnehjelm narrowly lost to No. 24 Alyssa Caffey at the second singles slot 7-6, 7-5.
