ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla.-The #5 Barry University women's tennis team rolled past #22 Midwestern State (18-7) by the score of 5-0 today in the opening round of the NCAA Division II National Championships. Sweeping the doubles matches, the Buccaneers (22-2) jumped out to an early 3-0 before grabbing two singles victories.

Ildiko Csordas and Ana Maria Zuleta started off the match with an 8-3 victory over Brenna Jackson and Lacey Wuthrich at the top doubles position. Also tallying an 8-3 win, Helen Wisniewski and Carole Steinhauser downed Michelle Beukes and Frida Arlegard at the third spot, while Greta Trotman and Kristin Danielson battled out an 8-5 win over Cilia Muller and Michelle Watson to finish off the doubles sweep.

Needing just two more points for a ticket to the NCAA Quarterfinals, the Bucs became one singles match closer as 12th-ranked Csordas put together a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Arlegard at the top position in the lineup. Clinching the match for Barry, Steinhauser pushed past Watson by the score of 6-1, 6-1 on the sixth court.

In their 13th NCAA appearance, the Bucs will now battle against the winner of the #4 West Florida/#15 Northwood opening match. The quarterfinal match is scheduled for 2 p.m. tomorrow at Sanlando Park.
