#2 Armstrong Atlantic 5, Nebraska-Omaha 0

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla.The #2 Armstrong Atlantic womens tennis team swept past Nebraska-Omaha today by the score of 5-0 in the NCAA Division II NCAA Round of 16. After the match was suspended last night due to rain, the Pirates (26-0) returned to for the victory over the Mavericks (16-5), advancing to the quarterfinals later this afternoon against #11 UC-San Diego.

Quickly finishing the doubles competition, Armstrong Atlantics top-ranked doubles team led the way as the #4 duo of Luisa Cowper and Laura Peaty breezed past Pam Le and Maggie Russell by the score of 8-2 at the No. 1 position. Eighth-ranked Manuela Emmrich and Caroline Grage put together an 8-1 victory over Abby Wilson and Katie Schmidt at the second spot, as Johanna Dahlback and Dziyana Nazaruk notched an 8-0 sweep over Sarah Huis and Lindsay Henjum in the final position.

Taking their 3-0 lead into the singles half of the match, the Pirates tallied two 6-0, 6-0 victories to clinch the team win at the first and fifth positions in the lineup. Cowper, the fourth-ranked singles player in the nation, took down Schmidt at the top spot as Grage blanked Huis on the fifth court.

In their 11th NCAA appearance, the Pirates will battle with UC-San Diego at 4 p.m. this afternoon in quarterfinal action.
