ATLAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla.The top-ranked BYU-Hawaii womens tennis team held off #8 Columbus State by the score of 5-1 in quarterfinal action at the NCAA Division II National Championships. The Seasiders (28-0) advance to their seventh-straight national semifinal tomorrow as they swept the singles competition after taking two-of-three doubles matches from the Lady Cougars (24-6).

Beginning the road to the semifinals, BYU-Hawaii picked up their first point at the No. 2 doubles position as Tetyana Bula and Petra Teller took down Agata Polcyn and Raluca Moldavan by the score of 8-3. Jing Jing Liu and Adrienn Hegedus, the top-ranked doubles team in the nation, pushed past Diana Gherghi and Zuzana Valekova 8-6 at the top position. Cutting their deficit in half, the Lady Cougars battled out a 9-7 victory at the third position as Suzanne Visagie and Marianne Berry downed Gurianna Korinihona and Crystal Schwenke.

Ahead 2-1 at the beginning of the singles action, the Seasiders quickly extended their lead as second-ranked Hegedus got past 43rd-ranked Valekova 6-1, 6-0 at the second flight. Stretching to a 4-1 lead, 14th-ranked Teller defeated Polcyn at the fourth spot 6-3, 6-1. With a 6-0, 6-3 victory at the fifth position, 37th-ranked Korinihona took out Moldavan to clinch the win for the Seasiders.

BYU-Hawaii will play the winner of the #4 West Florida/#5 Barry quarterfinal match at 2 p.m. tomorrow at Sanlando Park.
