WACO, Texas - The fourth-ranked Baylor women's tennis team defeated No. 61 Virginia Tech in the second round of action at the ITA National Indoor Qualifier on Sunday afternoon at the Baylor Tennis Center.

With the win, Baylor advances to the ITA National Indoor Championships which begin on Feb. 12 in Madison, Wisc.

Baylor opened the action with strong doubles play. Taylor Ormond and Jelena Stanivuk were the first pair off with an 8-6 win on court two over Inga Beermann and Martha Blakely. Third-ranked Lenka Broosova and Csilla Borsanyi followed suit with an 8-6 win on court one over Holly Johnson and Jessica Brouwer.

Like the first round action on Saturday, Nina Secerbegovic was first to finish her singles match, taking down Johnson, 6-1, 6-0, on court five. Broosova won her 21st-straight singles dual match with a 6-3, 6-2 decision over Brouwer.

Virginia Tech got on the board as Yasmin Hamza defeated Karolina Filipiak, 6-3, 6-3, on court four. Baylor sealed the win with a straight sets victory on court one as No. 19 Ormond defeated No. 125 Beerman, 6-2, 6-4. No. 65 Stanivuk defeated Blakely, 6-3, 7-5, on court three before Kasia Siwosz fell to Courtney Rauscher in a third-set supertiebreaker, 4-6, 6-4, 10-8.

Baylor returns to action on Feb. 12 with the first round of action at the ITA National Indoor Championships.
