GREENSBORO, N.C. - North Carolina's Sanaz Marand has been named Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week after three straight-set wins at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, including a pair of victories over ranked opponents.

The 61st-ranked Marand's week included a 6-3, 6-3 win over No. 28 Ellah Nze of Duke  and a 6-1, 6-3 victory over No. 88 Jennifer Stevens of Virginia at the No. 2 slot. The junior from Katy, Texas, also swept Virginia Tech's Inga Beermann 6-0, 6-0 in No. 1 singles play and had a hand in a pair of doubles victories while teaming with Sophie Grabinski. Marand's efforts helped the Tar Heels to a pair of conference wins over Virginia Tech and Virginia, as well as pushing No. 9 Duke before dropping a 4-3 decision.

It is the second Player of the Week honor of the season for Marand, who was also selected on Feb. 17.
