Laie, HI--The third-ranked Brigham Young University Hawaii women's tennis team defeated 19th-ranked Cal State-Stanislaus today, 5-0, to win the NCAA II West Regional and advance to the NCAA II National Championships next week. The win was the 29th consecutive win for the Seasiders as BYU-Hawaii continued its long domination of the West Region. BYU-Hawaii swept through the three doubles matches and then picked up wins at number five and number six singles to improve to 29-0 for the season.

BYU-Hawaii's Jenny Chin and Salina Aranda took an 8-3 win at number three doubles to get things started for the Seasiders. Elwen Li and Yuan Jia then finished off an 8-6 win at number one doubles and Shawni Porter and Ayako Ikeda polished off the doubles sweep with an 8-4 win at the second slot.

Chin earned the fourth point for BYU-Hawaii with a 6-1, 6-0 win at number five singles and Aranda closed out the match with a 6-0, 6-1 win at the sixth spot. BYU-Hawaii was leading the other four singles matches when play was halted.

The Seasiders will open the NCAA II National Tournament on Wednesday with a match against an opponent from the Southeast Region that will be determined later this week. The four teams vying for the spot are Columbus State, Augusta State, Georgia College and State, and Clayton State. The National Tournament will be held in Altamonte Springs, Florida.
